Wellness is a strong balance of health for the mind, body, and spirit. The AFRH staff will help you achieve total wellness in every aspect of your retirement. You will have access to many healthy choices and personalized support. Plus, we offer you a range of opportunities in fitness, recreation, arts and crafts, outdoor activities, learning, nutrition, camaraderie, and adventure.
You must be healthy and independent for admission to the AFRH. Yet, we realize you may need advanced care down the road. So we offer specialized care right here for a little more per month (Assisted Living, Memory Support, and Long Term Care). So you can stay with your friends, continue to enjoy activities, and avoid moving to a nursing home. Living at the AFRH ensures you quality care—now and later.
Person-centered Care
The AFRH staff will focus on your individual needs, develop proactive plans of care, and deliver meaningful services to help you thrive. In fact, you will be an active participant in guiding your life and happiness. Also, each staff and family member will work very hard to identify and understand your personal needs, listen carefully to your wishes, and offer smart solutions for consideration.
At the AFRH we place great importance on our Residents’ social and emotional wellbeing. So, after your admission, our healthcare team will meet with you to listen, evaluate, and establish your needs for good mental health. A Registered Nurse will serve as a liaison to communicate with your physicians, therapists, specialists, caseworkers, and more. Then we’ll create a detailed assessment and a personal plan of care.
The Home is fully accredited as a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) through two international and national organizations, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and The Joint Commission (TJC).
AFRH Resident Fees (as of November 22, 2024):
Resident fees are calculated as a percentage of the resident’s total gross income but will not exceed the maximum monthly fee set by AFRH.
Level of Care | Percentage of Gross | 2025 Maximum Fee * |
The AFRH Communicator is published quarterly by the Public Affairs Office to provide residents, staff, family members, and stakeholders with the latest information on events and activities at both AFRH-Gulfport and AFRH-Washington.
We encourage you to check each edition's Resident Highlight sections, which focus on and celebrate our veterans' military service and their personal stories.
Public Affairs will publish the AFRH Communicator quarterly!
The AFRH has been home to thousands of former enlisted, warrant officers, and limited duty officers. The people who live and have lived here served in all five branches of the United States Armed Services in locations around the world. The jobs they've performed, the sacrifices they've made, and the histories they've witnessed make an incredible story.
Helping them is a unique opportunity to serve those who have given so much to our nation.
